The Bergdrongo ( Dicrurus montanus ) is a species of bird from the family of Drongos .

It is endemic to Sulawesi .

Previously it was considered conspecific with the hair bush drongo .

The distribution area includes tropical or subtropical moist mountain forest and tree-lined habitats from 550 to 1800 m. Height.

description

The mountain drongo is 25 cm tall and weighs around 38 g. The plumage is strong bluish to black, shiny purple. The tail is long and moderately forked. The iris is dark, the strong, slightly curved bill on the upper side is lighter to gray.

voice

The call of the male is described as a two- or three-syllable, rough and scratchy "trrsh-trrsrh-trrrsh ..".

The species is monotypical .

Way of life

The food consists of insects . The species hunts individually or as a pair, also in mixed hunting communities.

Nothing is known precisely about the breeding season.

Hazardous situation

The stock is not considered to be at risk ( least concern ).
