Bergerschanzturm
The Bergerschanz Tower was a small defensive tower in the outer city wall of Aachen, built in the 13th and 14th centuries . It no longer exists today.
The tower was adjacent to both the mountain gate and the sand kault gate . It was a north / north-northeast tower of the former city fortifications and of a single-storey construction. The Bergerschanz Tower was 10.60 meters wide. Its depth was 7.50 meters. The building was semicircular in shape and opened to the city.
Most of the tower's loopholes were placed near the city wall, and one under the opening was oriented so that targets near the Sandkaultore could be reached.
