Bruno Lerho (born November 29, 1936 in Aachen ; † March 16, 2020 in Aachen) was a German local historian and author.

Live and act

Lerho was born in 1936 in Aachen's Marianneninstitut and grew up in Aachen's west quarter. His main job he worked as a post office clerk and privately mainly dealt with the history of Aachen. Since 1962 he has been writing numerous newspaper articles as a freelancer for Aachener Nachrichten and from the 1990s onwards he has written several books about old Aachen. This is how his works were created about the Aachen city wall with its towers and gates, about old Aachen residential buildings, about Aachen " originals " and about individual old stories from Aachen and the neighboring districts. Most of his publications were illustrated by the engineer Werner Kortsch (* 1938).

Another hobbyhorse of Lerho was his interest in the Indians . He has been involved with these peoples of Ancient America since childhood and was "adopted" in 1983 by an Indian tribe in Idaho . On this topic he organized seven exhibitions, including one in the Aachen City Library , in which the “white influence” on the culture and craftsmanship of the Plains Indians and other Indian tribes of North America was presented to the visitor .
