Berglieder is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op.18).

The work was created in 1845 and was performed for the first time on August 18 of the same year at the Tyrolean Festival in the then entertainment establishment Tivoli in the former Viennese suburb of Obermeidling (today Meidling ).

Remarks

The work was a great success in its day, but is rarely played today. The playing time of the waltz is about 9 minutes and 15 seconds plus or minus a few seconds, depending on the artistic conception of the respective conductor. The work owes its name to the anniversary of one of the battles on Bergisel and was also a memory of Andreas Hofer and a homage to the Tyrolean population.
