The Bergmännel , also Bergmännl , is a landmark in the Leubsdorf district , in the upper Lößnitztal between Eppendorf and Hammerleubsdorf . It is one of Carl August Nendel in 1830 in a block of Muskovitgneis hewn Bergmann (a Häuer in parade dress). To the left of the figure mallets and irons are depicted under a royal crown, to the right the words “In memory of the Jubelfeyer DML 1830” (DML stands for Dr. Martin Luther ), above the words “Carl August Nendel from Leubsdorf”. Later, on the outer right edge, the inscription “Vernetzt von Bruder 1854” was also carved. The depiction of the miner and the writing were colored in 2013. Over the hewn part of the boulder there is an only partially preserved protective cover made of gneiss slabs.

The reason for the creation of this monument was the three hundredth anniversary of the Augsburg Confession , which was celebrated in the whole of Saxony in 1830. For the 215th birthday of Carl August Nendel, the cross-community Carl-August-Nendel-Wanderweg was inaugurated on June 26, 2013, which connects the miner's birthplace on the Leubsdorfer Oberschaar with his place of work, the old murder pit near Brand-Erbisdorf . The path has been completely signposted since 2014.
