The mountain rescue knot is a combination of half-mast protection and grinding knot , which is additionally secured with a blind stitch to prevent it from opening by itself. It is used to secure an accident victim hanging on a climbing rope .

application

The mountain rescue knot is mainly used for makeshift mountain rescue and can be easily loosened in a controlled manner, even under load. When belaying companions with half-mast, the belayer can tie a loop knot if the climber rests in the rope for a long time. In this way, the belayer can relieve his hand, but for safety reasons must not let go of the brake cable. Only when he fixes the loop knot does he have both hands free. The mountain rescue node is one possibility.

The mountain rescue knot is also used by the fire brigade in height rescue and when attaching a slackline (tape material) to the shackle bar .

Knot

The braking rope is used to tie a slip knot around the rope on which the climbing partner is hanging. With the slip, the knot can be released immediately at any time. So that this does not happen unintentionally, the slip loop is made long and an overhand knot is tied around the load rope with the resulting bay .
