Berlin cold aid

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Berlin Cold Aid is a social work program in Berlin : during the cold season, homeless people are offered unbureaucratic overnight accommodation.

Many carriers, including various churches , each participate between November 1 and March 31 with offers such as counseling centers, emergency accommodation, night cafes, soup kitchens, cold buses and other venues in the cooling assistance program to prevent people freeze to death without accommodation in Berlin.

Employees of the Berlin refrigeration aid telephone project record the available free and occupied spaces on a daily basis and can provide information on this by telephone between 7 and 11 p.m. These projects are partly financed from grants from the State of Berlin and the district offices as well as from funds from the League of Welfare Associations, but also from donations and partly realized with the active support of voluntary helpers on site.

In 1989 the Berlin Cold Aid was launched by Berlin parishes and charities as well as by the Senate Administration (then health and social affairs). Associations and initiatives then also took part with their own offers. The projects are financed by the State of Berlin or the respective district offices, by the League of Welfare Associations and also from donations.
