Cold bus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Kältebus (also Wärmebus , Kältehilfebus or Mitternachtsbus ) is available in the Homeless. Between November and March, full-time and volunteer workers from aid organizations drive through large cities at night looking for the homeless . The cold bus employees first try to get in touch with them. They offer their help in the form of hot drinks, clothing or a warm sleeping bag. Anyone who is not able to go to an emergency sleeping place due to their physical or mental condition receives the offer to be taken to an emergency overnight stay. The concept is only successful if it is accepted by the homeless.

In Berlin, the Berliner Stadtmission maintains a cold bus as part of the Berlin Cold Aid and the regional association of the German Red Cross runs a heat bus.

In the Bavarian capital, based on the Berlin model, there is the so-called Munich cold bus , which is in daily use from October to March.

In Cologne there is the supply bus, the bus is on Mondays and Wednesdays with warm food, drinks, fruit, clothing, sleeping mats and sleeping bags at fixed stops and then individually.

In Bremen , the Johanniter take the cold bus to the main train station every other day on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and take care of the homeless.

In Frankfurt am Main there is a cold bus, which in "the cold season" carries out daily sightseeing trips through the city and provides the homeless with sleeping bags, blankets, hot drinks and, if necessary, a trip to an accommodation. The Frankfurt cold bus is operated by the Frankfurt Association for Social Home Centers .

similar offers

In some other cities such as Hanover, Krefeld, Mainz, Saarbrücken and Stuttgart there are also offers (as of 2016) that run under the name of Kältebus. In addition, similar projects for homeless work are offered under names such as a cold aid bus in Berlin or the midnight bus in Hamburg.
