The Berlin Chamber Opera was a Berlin opera ensemble with changing venues, founded in 1981 by Henry Akina and Brynmor Jones .

Around seventy music theater works from various genres, mostly seldom or not performed at all, were developed, including chamber opera in the true sense of the word, as well as pre-classical opera and today's repertoire. Since 2004, the Berlin Chamber Opera has concentrated on the development of contemporary chamber operas and world premieres. All of the productions were premieres in Berlin. Many productions were developed as domestic and foreign co-productions or went on tour.

From 1996 to 2002 Brynmor Jones was artistic director, from 2002 to 2012 Kay Kuntze was the artistic director . In 2012/13 the management team consisted of Katharina Tarján (dramaturgy / public relations) and Karin Lindner (production manager). In 2013 the game was stopped.

The productions were shown in various Berlin venues, including the Konzerthaus Berlin , the Admiralspalast , the Saalbau Neukölln , the former Schaubühne on Halleschen Ufer , the Hansa-Theater and mainly the Hebbel-Theater .
