Berliner Weisse or Berliner Weisse is synonymous with Berlin wheat beer . It is a designation of origin that only Berlin breweries are allowed to use.

The name Berliner Weisse has been protected as a registered trademark of the Berlin / Brandenburg Brewery Association since 1987 .

variety

In November 2014, the artisanal and fermented version of the drink was declared a regional cultural heritage worthy of protection by the Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity and was then included in the “ Ark of Taste ” of the Slow Food Germany Association.
