Bernárd Lynch

Bernárd J. Lynch (born 1947 in Ennis , County Clare ) is an Irish author , former Roman Catholic priest , psychotherapist and AIDS activist.

Life

Lynch studied Roman Catholic theology and psychotherapy . He served as an ordained Catholic priest in New York City . From 1982 he became involved in the organization DignityUSA and worked in pastoral care during the AIDS crisis of the 1980s in New York City. The documentary A Priest's Testament reported on his work in 1987 and the documentary A Soul Survivor in 1990 . As an author, he has written several books. Lynch has been married to his long-term partner Billy Desmond since 2017.
