Bernal Flores

Bernal Flores (born July 28, 1937 in San José (Costa Rica) ) is a Costa Rican composer.

Life

Flores studied music in his hometown and at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester / New York . He taught at the San José Conservatory and the University of Costa Rica, and from 1966 to 1969 at the Eastman School. Since then he has lived as a freelance composer in Costa Rica.

He composed a. a. two symphonies , a tone poem ( sea ​​and snow ), a chamber opera, a clarinet concerto, a song cycle for tenor and orchestra and piano pieces. He also wrote a musical history of Costa Rica.
