Bernard Dort (born September 29, 1929 in Metz , † May 5, 1994 in Paris ) was a French Romance studies and theater scholar .

life and work

Bernard There grew up in Noyon and Auch and passed the Abitur at the Lycée Charlemagne in Paris. He studied law and political science, and from 1951 to 1953 at the École nationale d'administration (ENA). From 1953 to 1963 he was an official in the Ministry of Health.

In addition, he indulged his passion for the theater and edited the magazine Théâtre populaire with Roland Barthes from 1953 to 1964 . In 1962 he went to the Theater Studies Institute of the Sorbonne (Institut d'Études Théâtrales, founded in 1959 by Raymond Lebègue and Jacques Scherer ). He completed his habilitation there in 1971 with Jacques Scherer cumulatively with writings on the subject of Recherches sur la dramaturgie et la représentation théatrâle d'aujourd'hui portant principalement sur l'œuvre, la théorie et la pratique and from 1976 taught as a professor of aesthetics and art studies (theater ). From 1971 to 1979 he edited the magazine Travail théâtral . From 1981 to 1988 he was professor at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique .
