from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bernard Frois is a French nuclear physicist and science manager.

Frois received his PhD from the University of Paris . He was director of research at CNRS , conducted research at CERN and the CEA laboratory in Saclay, and taught at the University of Utrecht and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign . He is the director of the CEA .

He is a fellow of the American Physical Society . Frois received the CNRS silver medal and the Tom W. Bonner Prize for Nuclear Physics (1987).

Among other things, he dealt with electron scattering on few nucleon systems. From nuclear physics he later turned to energy policy and research on energy issues. From 2000 to 2005 he was Director of the Energy, Transport, Environment and Natural Resources Department in the French Ministry of Research. He heads the New Energy Technology program at the French National Research Agency.

He is on the board of directors of the Carbon Capture and Storage Forum (CSLF) and board member of the EU Hydrogen Representative Group as well as on the board of directors of the International Partnership for Hydrogen Economy (IPHE).
