The Bernard Island ( French Île Claude Bernard ) is a 400 m long rocky island off the coast of the East Antarctic Adélieland . It is located 80 m east of the Buffon Islands in the Géologie archipelago .

French scientists mapped it in the course of a research trip lasting from 1949 to 1951 and named it after the French physiologist Claude Bernard (1813–1878).
