Bernardo Segall

Bernardo Segall (born August 4, 1911 in Campinas , Brazil , † November 26, 1993 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American pianist and film composer.

Life

Bernardo Segall began his career as a pianist and was celebrated for playing the works of Johann Sebastian Bach . He played as a soloist under conductors such as Otto Klemperer and Arturo Toscanini . In the 1940s he moved to the United States, where he composed first for musical theater and later for film, including the film scores A Day to Fight for Robert Siodmak and Rififi in St. Louis with Steve McQueen . He later also composed for television series such as Columbo and Airwolf .

On November 26, 1993, Segall died of heart failure in his home in Sherman Oaks , Los Angeles. He was survived by his wife, son, and a granddaughter.
