Bernd Degen

Bernd Degen (born February 12, 1947 in Wertheim am Main) is a German author , editor and international judge for discus fish .

Life

In 1974 Bernd Degen began breeding and importing discus fish. His first discus book was published in 1984 and was a milestone for anyone interested in discus breeding. 1986 bede publishing house was founded. bede is the abbreviation for Bernd Degen and numerous other books from his hand followed. Bernd Degen has been editor of the Discus Yearbook since 1987, and of Discus live magazine since 2001 .

His works have now been translated into fourteen languages, and Bernd Degen is considered the most widely read discus author in the world.

Until 1992, Bernd Degen specialized in the breeding of discus fish, of which he was able to sell numerous offspring, mainly to Asia. He brought the German high-breeding discus to Japan and Taiwan. From there, the German high-breeding discus made its triumphant advance through all of Southeast Asia. Bernd Degen was also involved in several expeditions in the Amazon, where he studied wild discus catches and brought them home.

His successes in discus breeding and as a discus author allow him to work as an international discus judge. He gave numerous specialist lectures in almost every country in Southeast Asia. At the biennial world championship of the discus in Duisburg, Bernd Degen holds the office of president of the judges.
