Bernd Deutschmann (born April 23, 1953 in Lauchhammer ) is a former German soccer player in the defensive midfield . He played for BSG Energie Cottbus in the GDR league .

Career

Deutschmann played in his youth for his hometown club BSG Motor Lauchhammer-Ost. In 1967 he moved to the youth team at BSG Energie Cottbus, where he was used for the first time in the second-rate GDR league in the 1970/71 season . After his first professional season with nine games, Deutschmann moved to ASG Vorwärts Cottbus because of his military service . In 1971 he returned to BSG Energie Cottbus. In 1974/75 he only made five missions, but was able to establish himself in the seasons after that. After rising to the GDR league in 1975, Deutschmann completed 24 games and scored his first league goal. After relegation, he made 93 missions and five goals by 1981. In the following league season 1981/82 he was used ten times, but could not prevent relegation. 1982/83 Deutschmann had nine appearances in the first team, but also played 14 games with the reserve in the district league. He then ended his career as a professional footballer.

After his career, Deutschmann initially worked as a coach of the second team at BSG Energie Cottbus, which was followed by several positions in the youth teams.
