Bernd Ewert

Bernd Ewert (* 1947 ) is a German visual artist and travel journalist.

Life

During his school education in Krefeld, Bernd Ewert took painting and drawing lessons from Hertha Zimmermann, artist, student and later wife of Richard Zimmermann, who taught as a professor at the Krefeld Textile Engineering School. During this time he learned freehand drawing, nature studies, watercolor and oil painting and thus prepared himself for the entrance examination at the Werkkunstschule in Krefeld with Günther C. Kirchberger for the subject free painting and visual communication . He was accepted in April 1966 and finished his studies in 1972. The photographer Peter Lindbergh , who died in September 2019, was his fellow student in the painting class for a few semesters. Ewert left Krefeld to live in The Hague / Netherlands. This was followed by 3 years in Paris 1977–1980, where he met Peter Lindbergh again. He then lived in Hamburg, Munich and finally Mallorca, where he lived for almost 27 years from 1986. In accordance with his stays abroad, he speaks these foreign languages.

Until 2010 exhibitions took place in Germany, Sweden and Spain.

From 1999 to 2001 he worked as a freelancer for the German weekly newspaper "Palma Kurier" and wrote articles about art exhibitions and country hotels on Mallorca.

Several books were created, such as the Coffee Table Book The Most Beautiful Country Hotels in Mallorca with photos by the photographer Ferdinand Graf Luckner. Together with the German writer Herbert Genzmer , he produced the hiking book Culinary Hikes in Mallorca , for which Ewert contributed the cover photo and most of the photos. He wrote the travel guide with photos Small Hotels with Charm: Mallorca, Menorca & Ibiza , which was also published in English.
