Life

Straub studied chemistry at the University of Heidelberg from the 1993 winter semester until he obtained his diploma in October 2000 . That same year he was under the supervision of Peter Hofmann with summa cum laude doctorate. In 2001, Straub worked as an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation fellow in Robert G. Bergman's research group at the University of California, Berkeley . He then returned to Germany and devoted himself to his habilitation at the Institute for Organic Chemistry at the University of Munich , which he completed in 2007. After a substitute professor at the University of Jena in the winter semester 2006/07 and the following summer semester, Straub has been Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Heidelberg since October 2007.

research

The main research focus of Straub and his research group is in organometallic chemistry . The main focus here is on the copper-catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition , the synthesis of non-homoleptic monophosphane and the development of new catalysts.
