Bernd Jacobitz

Bernd Jacobitz (born April 21, 1947 in Goslar ) is a former German amateur boxer .

Life

Jacobitz grew up in Berlin from 1952 . Like his older brother, who had a fatal accident in 1956, he began boxing and was initially a member of the Schöneberger Boxfreunde club . Jacobitz was Berlin youth champion in 1964 and Berlin men's champion in 1970. In 1970 he was also runner-up in the Federal Republic of Germany in the weight class up to 60 kilograms. He was accepted into the German national boxing relay, to which he belonged for six years, and took part in country comparison matches, including 1970 in Spain and 1971 in Hanover  against Italy . He also took part in competitions in Japan , Russia and Great Britain  , among others . Jacobitz was twice German team champion.

He did an apprenticeship as a sign painter in his father's workshop. He later worked as a department store detective, from 1979 to 1997 Jacobitz ran a boxing school with a fitness and tanning studio in Berlin-Wilmersdorf . The boxing school was destroyed by fire in 1997 and he was held in custody for three months because he was suspected of having started the fire. The suspicion was not confirmed. Jacobitz, who said he was addicted to gambling at times and lost a lot of money in casinos, worked from then on as a private fitness and boxing trainer as well as bodyguard and from 2010 built up the boxing gymnastics association . In November 2000 he climbed on scaffolding in Berlin-Charlottenburg with the intention of killing himself, but was saved from jumping into the depths by rescuers.
