Bernd Käpplinger

Bernd Käpplinger (* 1972 in Mainz ) is an educational scientist with a focus on adult and further education .

Life

Käpplinger grew up in Alzey and completed his Abitur at the Elisabeth Langgässer Grammar School there. He lives in Berlin and Giessen and has a son. His brother is the architecture and city critic Claus Käpplinger.

Bernd Käpplinger has held the chair for further education at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen since 2015. Before that he was junior professor for learning in the life course / in-company further training at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 2010 to 2015. After studying adult education / further training, sociology and political science in Mainz, Cork, Nijmegen and Berlin, he worked on German between 2001 and 2010 Institute for Adult Education and at the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training in Bonn. His main areas of research and teaching include: in- company further training , program research, educational advice, qualification-related further training and international comparative research. Editor of the series “Studies on Pedagogy, Andragogy and Gerontagogy” at Peter-Lang-Verlag since 2013 together with Steffi Robak. Since September 2018 he has been the spokesman for the adult education section of the German Society for Educational Sciences (DGfE).
