Bernd Wegener (entrepreneur)

Bernd Wegener (born November 27, 1947 in Dinslaken ) is a German entrepreneur and pharmaceutical lobbyist . He was chairman of the Federal Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry and co-founder of Belano Medical AG , of which he is chairman of the board.

Life

Wegener studied veterinary medicine from 1967 and law in Gießen from 1969. He passed his veterinary exam in 1972. From 1974 to 1981 he worked for the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim and rose to head of the German pharmaceutical field service lines in the company. He then moved to the Degussa Pharmaceutical Group from 1981 to 1984 , where he was Head of Sales for Germany and Head of International Product Management. From 1984 he worked as managing director for Marion Merrell Dow GmbH and from 1992 for Henning Berlin GmbH.

In 1994 he founded BRAHMS Diagnostica GmbH (stock corporation from 2001).

From 2000 to 2014 Wegener was chairman of the Federal Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry, where he was previously deputy chairman from 1994 to 2000 and treasurer of the association from 1995 to 2000. Since 2017 he has been vice chairman again. In addition to his professional activities, he does volunteer work in various public and non-profit organizations.
