The ruins of the Andreaskirche on the Bernecke

The Bernecke desert is located east of the "Oberhahner Revier" near Uftrungen in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt . The desert is registered as a ground monument in the local register of monuments .

history

In 1341 Bernecke was named in an exchange contract between the lords of Hohnstein and Stolberg .

Decline

It is possible that this settlement fell victim to the raids of Bishop Burchard von Warberg from Halberstadt in 1418, when he was raging the battle of the Dead Way at Heimkehle . The villagers are said to have moved from there to the outlets.

Evidence of this past

The north wall of the ruins of the Romanesque chapel, also known as St. Andrew's Church, tower up six meters, clearly visible. Two small Romanesque windows and traces of a groin vault are still clearly visible. There is also an ogival window in the east wall .
