Bernhard Arndt

Bernhard Arndt (born November 30, 1954 in Berlin ) is a German pianist (also keyboard and live electronics) who has emerged primarily in the field of free jazz.

Arndt had a classical piano training from the age of twelve at the Stern Conservatory . He studied music for the teaching profession up to the first state examination and then continued studying piano at the Berlin University of the Arts . In addition to his classical training, he first played as a keyboardist in the rock bands Guricht and Agitation Free (1974) and was then a member of Os Mundi . He dealt intensively with jazz and new music and formed a duo with Manfred Kussatz before becoming the pianist of the Berlin Jazz Workshop Orchestra . He attended a master class from Cecil Taylor and worked with Paul Lovens , John Tchicai , Butch Morris (1995) and Günter Baby Sommer . He formed a duo with Harri Sjöström . Since the release of his solo album in 1995, which was also widely acclaimed by critics, he has increasingly appeared with solo programs and has also given concerts at festivals in Eastern Europe.
