biography
Scheller came from a long-established Geestemünde family. He studied architecture at the Hanover Polytechnic and then settled down as a building contractor and architect in his home town of Geestemünde.
In 1878 he built the synagogue of the synagogue community Wesermünde with 300 seats on what is now Schulstrasse 5 . A memorial stone today commemorates the synagogue destroyed by the National Socialists during the November pogrom night from November 9th to 10th, 1938 (see also National Socialism in Bremerhaven # Jewish persecution in Bremerhaven ).
The Lloydhalle at the new Kaiserschleuse was built in 1896/1897 based on his own designs .
He died in 1907 and was buried in the Bremerhaven cemetery in Wulsdorf .
