Bernhard Tragut

Bernhard Tragut (born 1957 in Purgstall an der Erlauf , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian musician, painter and sculptor. In 1982 his band "Rucki Zucki Palmencombo" made it into the Austrian charts with the song "Südseeträume".

Life

Together with Ronald Ronnie Urini Iraschek, Roli "Roli Rostig" Überuter, Robert "Robert Räudig" Wolf and "Michi Monoton", Bernhard Tragut ("Bernie Bedenklich") founded the punk band "Dirt Shit" in 1978. In 1979 they released the EP "Rattenloch".

However, he had more success with the band "Rucki Zucki Palmencombo", founded in 1980 with his wife Gabi and Ronnie Urini. The first single, "Südseeträume", made it to number 6 in the Ö3 hit parade in 1982 . In 1983 the LP "Ruck'n Zuck" followed; in the same year, however, the band broke up.

With Andy Wagner on drums, the “Rucki Zucki Palmencombo” celebrated a comeback in 2001, and the founding members Bernhard (guitar and vocals) and Gabi Tragut (bass) were still there. Later Rob Niedl joined them on drums, Herwig Müller on accordion and Claudia Fenzl on violin. The band released three more albums: "Mit Herz und Seele" (2003), "Es geht wie es geht" (2008) and "Das Salz in der Soup" (2018).

Visual arts

Bernhard Tragut received his diploma at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in 1983 . The artist has received several awards for his works over the years, including a Füger Medal, the Professor Hausner Prize and the Lower Austrian Culture Prize. In the past he mainly devoted himself to painting, today to sculpture, his preferred material is wood.

Private

Bernhard Tragut lives with his wife in Vienna and has two grown sons.
