Ö3 hit parade

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ö3 hit parade was one of the most popular radio broadcasts in Austria, in which the most popular songs of the radio station Ö3 were presented. Since 1968 it has been broadcast in various forms on the Austrian radio station. In the period between the end of 1971 and the beginning of 1972 it was used as a benchmark for the official Austrian charts (today Ö3 Austria Top 40 ), as these were not recorded for a certain time.

history

Disc parade

On November 26, 1968 the chart era began on Ö3, the first hit parade was called Disc Parade . The first moderator of the weekly broadcast was the later Ö3 boss Ernst Grissemann . The broadcast lasted an hour and the top 10 titles were presented. The evaluation of the titles was initially determined by telephone inquiries from selected Austrian record stores. This later turned out to be unreliable, as the owners of the record stores had given slackers as bestsellers and thus falsified the rating.

The Euro Disc Parade was broadcast once a month . This was a multinational project in which Germany , Austria , Switzerland , Hungary and what was then Czechoslovakia were involved. The program was moderated by Ernst Grissemann, Marianne Koch , Dieter Thomas Heck and Frank Elstner, among others .

In mid-1969, Rudi Klausnitzer , who later became Ö3 boss, took over the moderation of the Disc Parade .

The big 10 from Ö3

In 1971 the program was renamed Die Große 10 von Ö3 , a name that was later reused for a television program. After four years, on June 17, 1973, Klausnitzer handed the program over to the new presenter, Hans Leitinger . At that time the rating was calculated based on postcards sent in by listeners. This turned out to be just as unreliable as the previously abandoned investigation through demand from record stores. Fan clubs wrote their fingers sore and tried to influence the rating. Due to the pure postcard rating, there were complaints from record companies that had no product in the rating. The disputes eventually led to the program being discontinued in 1975.

Pop shop

From 1975 to 1980 there was no Ö3 hit parade. Instead of the hit parade, Hans Leitinger presented a foray through the international chart landscape with the program Pop-Shop . The record industry soon began to miss the weekly charts. Ö3 began to rethink the topic of charts.

Hit vote with

In 1980, Hans Leitinger introduced a reformed Ö3 hit parade: Instead of a postcard investigation, a mixture of sales and listeners' opinion was used to create the charts under the new title Hit select . In the broadcast time of one hour, 15 chart placements and six new releases were presented.

In November 1981 the show got a new presenter again. Udo Huber was the voice of the Austrian charts for the next 16 years. At the same time as the new presenter, the program is also slightly changed. Hit wähl mit was broadcast on Sunday evenings, lasted two hours, and recorded 25 rated positions with eight new entries. The rating was determined by weighting the listeners (25%), jurors (25%), record stores (40%) and the industry (10%). The industry was represented by the Association of the Austrian Music Industry (IFPI Austria) . The Viennese telephone number for the listener rating at the time was concisely incorporated into the signature: “Hit dial with. Six five - six seven - three one. Six five - six seven - three one […] ”(65-67-31) The last broadcast was on January 7, 1990. After that, it was split into a sales hit parade and a listener hit parade.

The big 10

In December 1982 the next section of Austrian chart history began for Ö3 and Udo Huber. With The Big 10 , a monthly rating with video clips was shown on television . The almost one-hour program was broadcast on ORF from discotheques all over Austria. Alongside Musikantenstadl, the Big 10 was the second Austrian program to be shown in young democracies after the fall of the Iron Curtain, in 1990 in Bratislava .

After 10 years and 120 broadcasts the show got to rate losses with Dominic Heinzl for one year a new moderator and was adjusted accordingly.

Ö3 Top-30 / Ö3 Austria Top 40

On January 13, 1990 the pure sales hit parade Ö3 Top-30 started with Udo Huber. The two-hour time slot was now on Saturday evening, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. From September 17, 1995, the program was changed to Ö3 Austria Top 40 and extended to a broadcast time of three hours. The time slot was now again on Sunday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. On January 12, 1997, “Mr. Hit parade “Udo Huber his last broadcast. Her successor was Martina Kaiser , who moderated until December 28, 2001. Matthias Euler took on the role until April 30, 2004 and was then replaced by Gustav Götz , who moderated from 2004 to 2014. Elke Rock has hosted the show since March 21, 2014 , and Tarek Adamski occasionally also moderates . After the show had been broadcast on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for many years, it has had a new slot on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. since October 6, 2019.

From January 15, 2000, the Ö3 Austria Top 40 was expanded into a "tri-media" broadcast (radio, television, Internet) with a television broadcast on Saturday afternoon. Up to the annual charts on December 29, 2001, the TV show was alternately moderated by Martina Kaiser and Matthias Euler-Rolle. From January 2002 Euler-Rolle moderated alone until the show was discontinued in the same year.

Ö3 listener charts

In addition to the sales charts, the Ö3 listener charts were launched. This ran until 2007 on Sundays between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The 36 most popular songs of the listeners of Ö3, including new releases, were presented as part of this program. From August 2013 to April 2018 there was again the Ö3 listener charts under the title The Best 40 . Here the 40 most popular songs of the week were presented in a countdown. The show was moderated by Lisa Hotwagner and Julian Heidrich (until 2015) and Verena Kicker (from 2015).
