Bernhard Zwitzel

Bernhard Zwitzel (* around 1496; † 1570 in Augsburg ) was a German architect and master craftsman of the Renaissance .

From 1536 to 1538 he designed the so-called German building of the Landshut city residence as the "obrister construction manager" .

From 1538 until his death he was Stadtwerkmeister of the city of Augsburg, for which he a. a. the Jakobspfründe (1541–46), the ballroom (1548), the merchant's room (1549), the old St. Annagymnasium (1562) and the sex room (1563–65) built.

He also worked for the Fugger .

It is believed that he was involved in the design of the Marstall and Kunstkammer building (Alte Münze) in Munich.

He had several sons who also worked in construction, says Simon Zwitzel .
