Bert Pronk (born October 24, 1950 in Scheveningen , † March 15, 2005 in the Algarve ( Portugal )) was a Dutch cyclist . He celebrated his greatest successes in 1977 when he won the Tour of the Netherlands and the Tour du Luxembourg .

Pronk was considered a time trial and mountain specialist during his active time. When he made his debut in the 1976 Tour de France , he wore the white jersey for several days as the best young professional. At the end of the tour he finished 26th. In the following year he improved to 12th place in the overall ranking. In 1977 Pronk moved from the TI-Raleigh team to the Ijsboerke team . His successful career then ended abruptly.

A year later he returned to Ti-Raleigh, but did not find his way back to his previous potential. Characteristic of this was the Tour de France in 1980 , when he lost so much time at the start of the team time trial that he was taken out of the classification.

Bert Pronk succumbed to a March 15, 2005 at the age of 54 years suffering from cancer .
