Live and act

Berthold Poll (* before 1326, + after 1349) was born as the son of the perennial mayor of Vienna Niklas Poll . His grandfather, a wealthy landowner, is named as the first documented mayor of Vienna. In 1338 he followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather and replaced Konrad von Eslarn , whose family had also held the mayor's office several times, as mayor of Vienna. In this position he was active until the following year, before he was replaced by Konrad Wiltwerker . Margret Chitzel is mentioned as his first wife at least between 1330 and 1338. His second wife Katrei is first mentioned in a document in 1345. Katrei was the daughter of Ulreich Zeller, the kitchen master of the Duchess Johanna . The Poll patrician family also included Stefan Poll († 1425–1430), another city politician in Vienna.

In 1344 a document from Klosterneuburg Abbey testifies that a Berthold Poll bought several properties in the “In der Rein” area. At that time "pure" was the name for a depression or hollow that was used agriculturally as arable or wine-growing grounds. In 1360 these reasons are proven "In the Rhine" as "Reintal". In 1411 a settlement named "Reindorf" is mentioned for the first time (today: 15th Viennese district Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus).
