Public address systems are electrical systems that amplify audio signals from microphones , electronic or electromechanical musical instruments or recording devices and make them accessible to human perception via loudspeakers . There are basically two types:

  • The PA system is designed for event technology such as disco, live or concert sound, often also for mobile use, where PA stands for Public Address (not for Power Amplifier ).
  • The ELA ( electro-acoustic system or electrical loudspeaker system) is a permanently installed system for the area-wide sound coverage of buildings, sports facilities and other outdoor areas.
