Union Move was a techno parade held annually in Munich from 1995 to 2001 . It was an initiative of the Munich organizers against drug abuse ( Kunstpark Ost , P1 , Ultraschall (Club) , Partysan , Parkcafe and Powder Tower) to demonstrate against the Munich curfew and the disproportionate control by the police. A repeated motto of the parade was “Music is the only drug!”. The first Union Move took place on May 27, 1995 and attracted 60,000 participants; in 1996, 100,000 ravers came for the first time. In 1997, the event again had 100,000 visitors who danced to the music of 16 trucks hung with loudspeakers, but the following year the number of participants fell slightly to 60,000 ravers. The number of visitors rose a little again in 2000 to 70,000, but then fell in the following year to 19,000 (police estimate) and 30,000 (according to the organizers) who romped about on a rainy Whit Saturday. While the first Union Move led from Münchner Freiheit via Leopoldstrasse , Altstadtring and Isartor to Marienplatz , the closing event in later years took place on Odeonsplatz . Afterwards there was the possibility to continue the rave with a Housetram that drove over the Altstadtring. In the evening the party continued in the local nightclubs under the motto Night Move . In 2015, an initiative was launched to promote a new version of the Technoparade. So far, however, these attempts have not been crowned with success.
