Ballistic Office (Austria)

The Proof Houses in Austria have loud bombardment Act 1951 (Federal law on compulsory testing of all small arms and cartridges) the proof test of firearms and cartridges perform. This is used to ensure safety when dealing with the same. The test that has been carried out is indicated by affixing an official proof mark to the weapon or by a test mark on the cartridges packaging.

The two proof offices are located in Vienna and Ferlach .

The proof offices in Austria are offices of the Federal Ministry for Digitization and Business Location .

The mark for the month and year must be clearly visible once on every handgun, on every highly stressed part presented individually for fire and on the frame next to the proof mark in the case of revolvers. The month and year can also be specified in coded form according to the following tables ( Section 19 Shooting Ordinance 2013 ):
