Fire office
A Beschussamt ( Engl. Proof House ) is an agency of the fire system and in particular for the testing of small arms and their ammunition charge.
International standards
The Commission Internationale Permanente pour l'Epreuve des Armes à Feu Portatives (CIP), an international organization, regulates the standards of the firing system internationally. The member states of the CIP have committed themselves by international treaties to mutually recognize their proof marks and to adopt the test regulations drawn up by the CIP. This means that every handgun tested in one Member State can be imported into and sold in all other Member States without further testing (unless this is prohibited by security police regulations). The firing offices of the CIP member states work according to the binding regulations of the CIP and therefore have largely the same tasks and standards that are used, for example, for bullet testing.
