The data is saved by the authority in the Central Register of Residents (ZMR) and a copy of the registration form is given to the resident as an officially issued document ( confirmation of the notification ). From the first registration onwards, the registration form can be viewed as an updated extract from the register .

The registration form is available at the registration offices, online and at some tobacconists .

Definition

Before March 1, 2002, the confirmation document was officially called the registration form , until it was replaced on that key date by the name confirmation of registration that can be found today . The authorities now differentiate between the application form for the report itself ( registration form “new” ) and the confirmation issued after a successful application ( confirmation of the report , registration form “old” ). In colloquial language, however, no difference is made. Service providers (telephone companies, energy supply companies, etc.) usually require a “registration slip” to be presented when concluding a contract. However, submission is no longer necessary for authorities, as all authorities now have access to the central population register . The (private) vehicle registration offices now also verify the main residence online. The costs incurred for each query will be passed on to the applicant.
