Arkab Prior ( Arabic عرقوب, DMG 'Arqūb  ' Achilles tendon 'and Latin prior "the first") is the name of the star β1 Sagittarii (Beta 1 Sagittarii). Arkab Prior has an apparent magnitude of +3.96 mag and belongs to the spectral type B9V. Arkob Prior is 380 light years away. Arkab Prior has a companion with a brightness of +7.2 mag at an angular distance of 28.3 "at a position angle of 77 degrees, which is easily visible in telescopes with an aperture of 5 centimeters or more.
