Beta Hydri

Beta Hydri is a star that is located near the south celestial pole ( constellation Little Water Snake or Hydrus ) when viewed from Earth . Beta Hydri is 6.4 billion years old and 24.38 light years from Earth. The star is currently expanding into a red giant , and there are indications of the presence of a planet in its star system .

Beta Hydri has the spectral class G2IV and is more than 3.6 times as bright as the sun . Compared to the sun, its mass is about 10% larger and its diameter is 1.66 times. The apparent magnitude of Beta Hydri is 2.80 mag.
