Betagarri (2009)

Betagarri is a band of eight musicians from the Basque Country who have been making music together since 1992. All members come from Vitoria-Gasteiz , the capital of the Basque Country. The line-up of today's band has little in common with the initial formation. Only Iñaki Ortiz de Villalba (vocals), Aitor Ruiz de Arbulo (guitar) and Pablo Rodríguez (bass) have been there from the start. Over the years, other musicians and instruments were added or the musicians changed: Iker Uriarte (drums), Aitor Agirre (guitar), David Gaviña (saxophone), Mikel Sanz (trombone) and Unai Lobo (trumpet). This is the current line-up since 2003.

Betagarri play a mixture of ska , reggae and rock , but Latin and punk influences are also represented. Almost all of the songs are written in the Basque language . The texts are largely devoted to topics critical of social and globalization from a left-wing perspective . The Spain / Basque Country conflict is also discussed. Many tours and a total of more than 500 concerts took Betagarri through Europe and the USA, they are known as far as Japan.
