Elizabeth Barbara "Beth" Paxson (born February 10, 1960 in Burlington , Vermont ) is a former American cross-country skier .

Paxson was considered a young talent in cross-country skiing in the USA. In 1977 and 1978 she was voted Junior Nordic Competitor of the Year by Ski Racing Magazine . In 1978 she took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti . A year later she became national champion in the competition over 20 kilometers and runner-up over 10 kilometers. Paxson was able to qualify for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid . There she reached 26th place over 5 kilometers and 25th over 10 kilometers. With her fellow relay teams Leslie Bancroft-Krichko , Alison Owen-Spencer and Lynn Spencer-Galanes , she finished 7th.

Paxson graduated from the University of Vermont in 1984 .
