The Bethanien-Nama , actually ǃAman belong to the Nama , they form an Orlam society in southwest Africa, today's Namibia .

The Orlam had formed in the 18th century and were based in Pella and Clanwilliam in South Africa. From 1815 they moved in several trains, because of the better grazing and hunting grounds, north across the Oranje and settled there near the Bethanien mission station .
