The WMF company health insurance fund is open nationwide, i. H. Interested parties from all federal states can insure themselves with this health insurance company. It is based in Geislingen an der Steige and is the historical health insurance company of the Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik .

history
The WMF company health insurance fund was founded in 1884. The Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (short form: WMF Group) was one of the first companies to provide its employees with a company health insurance fund. The employees of WMF AG were insured against illness with the insurance, which was still known as the “factory fund” at the time .
When the free choice of health insurance funds was introduced on January 1, 1996, the company health insurance funds had the opportunity to open up to other groups of people nationwide. The WMF company health insurance fund has made use of this option and has therefore been accessible to everyone nationwide since May 1, 1997 in accordance with its statutes.
The opening resulted in a strong increase in the number of members (from approx. 7,000 to approx. 17,000) and insured persons (from approx. 10,000 to approx. 24,000).
Services
In addition to the mandatory benefits according to SGB V , the WMF company health insurance fund offers preventive health care . Additional benefits for artificial insemination and during pregnancy are reimbursed through an individual statutory regulation.
Contribution rates
Since January 1, 2009 the contribution rates have been standardized by the legislator. Until December 31, 2014, it did not raise any additional contribution that is independent of the health insurance fund . In 2019, it raised an income-related additional contribution of 0.9 percent of the contributory income, from January to May 2020 of 1.1 percent, since June 2020 of 1.6 percent.

The board of directors consists of voluntary representatives from employers and insured persons. The board of directors of the WMF company health insurance fund has a total of 8 members (4 employer and 4 insured persons). It determines the budget, instructs auditors to check the invoice results, makes fundamental decisions for the fund and elects and monitors the board of directors of the health insurance company .
Alternating chairmen of the administrative board of the WMF company health insurance fund are Peter Schmid and Gabriele Luprich.
Managing Board is Jürgen Matkovic. He heads the WMF company health insurance fund and represents it both in and out of court. Martin Heneke is the deputy of the board.
Cooperations
The WMF company health insurance fund ensures supply nationwide through contractual working groups. To this end, cooperations are entered into with other company health insurance funds. In addition, she provides neutral and provider-independent advice on private supplementary health insurance.
