Certified business economist according to the craft regulations
Certified business economist according to the Crafts Code ( Geprüfter Betriebswirt (HwO) ) is a publicly recognized qualification in Germany that is awarded after successfully completing commercial advancement training . This is the highest education in the craft , which already in 1977 with the business administrator of crafts ( Business Administration (dH) = (BdH)) in Baden-Wuerttemberg began. The nationwide examination takes place on the basis of a special statutory ordinance before the examination board of a chamber of crafts . The ordinance on the examination for the recognized advanced training qualification Certified Business Economist according to the Crafts and Trades Code came into force on April 1, 2011 with a transition period until December 31, 2015. The previous chamber regulations according to § 42a HwO are thus replaced by the national statutory ordinance according to § 42 HwO. The preparatory courses are held by the respective crafts academies of the chambers of crafts.

- Innovation management
A central aspect of the framework curriculum is the competence orientation, which includes aspects of technical, methodological, leadership and social competence. The processing of complex problem solutions is reflected in the design of the written examination parts. These are formulated on the basis of operational situation tasks, which allow competence-oriented examinations as images of operational reality.
The standard time value for face-to-face teaching is 700 hours, but there is a possibility of 10% up or down.
Examining institution
The examination for the certified business economist (HwO) is held by the chambers of crafts. The respective examining Chamber of Crafts appoints an examination committee that is responsible for carrying out the examinations.
Qualifications framework EQF / DQR
The business economist builds on the master craftsman training and represents the highest qualification level in the craft, so this degree is on the so-called master-plus level. In order to be able to classify the acquired competence level, the business economist treated here was classified at level 7 of 8. This qualification is therefore on the same level as the academic master's or academic diploma degree.
This decision is intended to clarify the equivalence of vocational and university education and to express that educational formats that qualify for different fields of action can have the same level of requirements. Although the degrees correspond to the same level of competence (equivalent), the degrees are not of the same kind. The competencies of the individual fields of activity and occupational fields differ considerably in some cases. The classification of master's, diploma and business economist must therefore not be misunderstood in such a way that they could carry out the same activities.
