Elizabeth Grace "Betsy" Haines (born November 5, 1960 in Salt Lake City , Utah ) is a former American cross-country skier .

During her time at East Anchorage High School , Haines was able to win several titles in athletics. She also competed in tennis in the junior division. At the age of 15 she was appointed to the national ski team. In 1980, Haines won the US championship in the 20 kilometer competition. In the same year she took part in the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid . She finished 37th over 5 kilometers.

After attending college , she won the National Ski Marathon Ski Circuit . She later worked for a pipeline company. It also promotes the next generation of young people with a desire for a career in mathematics, science or engineering. In 2004, Haines was recognized for her work in Alaska.

Her brother Chris Haines and her niece Kikkan Randall are also cross-country skiers and have participated in the Winter Olympics.
