The Movement for a United Georgia ( Georgian მოძრაობა ერთიანი საქართველოსთვის - Modsraoba Ertiani Sakartwelostwis (MES) ) is a political party in Georgia . Its founder was the former Minister of Interior and Defense of Georgia, Irakli Okruashvili .

The founding of the party was announced on September 25, 2007. One day after the planned establishment was announced, around 500 people applied for membership in the Tbilisi office. It held its first party congress on December 15, 2007. Chairman of the MPs was Gia Tortladse elected honorary chairman Okruashvili. Gia Zagareishvili became the general secretary. On March 3, 2008, Okruashvili removed Toteladze and Zagareishvili from their offices. The positions remain vacant until new elections are held at a party conference.

The party's aim is to strengthen democratic pluralism in Georgia. The power of the executive should be restricted, judicial reform implemented and the electoral system changed. The unemployment is to be reduced, attracted investors and long-term planning for the suffering agriculture are made. The party founder criticized the Saakashvili government having done too little for the country's political culture : "All people who ... have a different view are viewed as enemies."

The party is a member of the opposition party alliance United National Council and supports the candidacy of the MP Levan Gatchetschiladze in the 2008 presidential elections in Georgia .

The party founder Okruashvili was arrested at the party headquarters on September 27, 2007, two days after an interview in which he accused the Georgian president of planning a contract killing, together with his bodyguards and his driver. According to the Georgian MP Keti Macharashvili, the police are said not to have presented an arrest warrant. Since Okruashvili on 9 October on bail from the detention had been released, he is not operated more political. He left Georgia on November 1st and has lived in exile in France since January 2008 .
