Relationship work refers to a procedure in interpersonal relationships in which the participants consciously try to question their behavior towards the other and to keep them changeable in the sense of a positive design of the relationship. It aims to enable trust, greater coordination (factual / emotional) and more open exchange.

Relationship work means approaching people in a targeted manner, experiencing something together with them, establishing personal points of contact or instructing others in building relationships.

Relationship work can also include questioning one's own behavioral patterns as well as " motivations " for certain behaviors towards the other.

To be more precise: you try to create a meaningful encounter with someone else. This includes that the other is important to you, you take your behavior seriously, respect your feelings and regard your personality as valuable. This work also requires that you get involved with your personal pages, strive to establish trust and exchange personal points of view. Above all, this includes expressing one's own feelings (e.g. in dialogue, body language ...).

The term emotion work describes a special form of relationship work, namely the planned handling of emotions in personal service professions .
