Bianca Dittrich (* 1977 ) is a German theoretical physicist who deals with quantum gravity .

From 1996 Dittrich studied physics at the University of Potsdam with a diploma in 2002 and received her doctorate in 2005 with a thesis for which she had researched at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics in Golm near Potsdam ( Aspects of Classical and Quantum Dynamics of Canonical General Relativity ) . From 2005 to 2008 she was a post-doctoral student at the Perimeter Institute , 2008/09 at the University of Utrecht (as a Marie Curie Fellow) and from 2009 group leader at the MPI for Gravitational Physics in Golm (Canonical and Covariant Dynamics of Quantum Gravity). Since 2012 she has been at the Perimeter Institute and at the same time Adjunct Professor at the University of Waterloo and theUniversity of Guelph .

She deals with loop quantum gravity, spin foam models and cosmological aspects of quantum gravity. Dittrich published among others with Thomas Thiemann and Renate Loll .

In 2007 she received the Otto Hahn Medal , which the Max Planck Society awards for excellent dissertations. She was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation .
