Biblica , formerly the International Bible Society (IBS), is a Bible and mission society .

history

It was founded in New York City in 1809 . In 2007 IBS merged with the literary mission Send the Light to form IBS-STL Global . Until July 2009 the organization was called the International Bible Society (IBS).

From 1831 onwards, Bibles were passed on in prisons, hospitals, and hotels. After 1892, every US immigrant on Ellis Island received a New Testament in their language. One goal of the IBS is to translate the Bible text into an easily understandable everyday language without falsifying the content.

In Europe, IBS is still represented with its own country offices in Sweden, Great Britain and the Netherlands. Graham Sopp is in charge of European management.

In Germany the IBS was represented as the International Bible Society Germany until 2009 . In mid-May 2009, activities in Germany were discontinued for economic reasons and the headquarters of the International Bible Society Germany in Schorndorf , Baden-Württemberg, were closed. Its activities have been continued to a lesser extent since the beginning of June 2009 by the PJI agency . The New Testament “The Living Book” in its own translation “ Hope for All ” had been distributed over a million times in Germany up to this point.

IBS is involved in the online Bible service bibleserver.com with over 40 Bible translations .
