The Bavarian Library Academy , until July 2012 the Bavarian Library School , is a department of the Bavarian State Library in Munich .

Together with the archives and libraries department of the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and Justice in Bavaria, she is responsible for library training in Bavaria. She carries out the theoretical training for the middle and higher service , for the higher service (diploma librarian / FH) the department of archives and librarianship is responsible.

The Bavarian Library Academy provides practical training for all careers in library services. The Bavarian Library Academy is also responsible for advanced library training in Bavaria.

The Bavarian Library Academy also takes on theoretical training for candidates from Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony (partially) and Rhineland-Palatinate in addition to Bavaria when training to become an academic librarian and academic librarian as a trainee . The legal clerkship begins every year in October with a two-week theoretical introductory course in Munich, followed by a practical year at the training library. The candidates then spend the second year entirely at the Bavarian Library Academy for theoretical training, which concludes with the written and oral qualification exams.
