The BGW Bielefeld Institute for Housing and Real Estate Services Ltd. is a municipal real estate companies in Bielefeld . The BGW is owned 75% by the city of Bielefeld, 15% by Ravensberger Heimstättengesellschaft mbH and 10% by Freie Scholle (Bielefeld) . BGW owns around 11,600 apartments and 100 commercial units.
history
The BGW was founded on April 1, 1950 to rebuild the housing stock in Bielefeld, which had been badly damaged by the Second World War . She has built nine day-care centers and, as the landlady, provides rooms for two day-care centers and several parenting initiatives. In 2016 it changes its name from “Bielefelder Gemeinnützige Wohnungsgesellschaft” to “BGW Bielefelder Gesellschaft für Wohnen und Immobiliendienstleistungen”.
Awards
- 2008: German builder award for the residential complex on Heinrichstrasse
- 2005: 1st special prize for living and personal services from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia for the "Bielefelder Modell"
- 2001: 1st prize in the nationwide competition “Who builds for the future?” For the solar settlement on Schneidemühler Strasse
- 1967: Architecture Prize from the Association of German Architects in East Westphalia for the atrium houses in the Bültmannshof settlement area, architect Jürgen Lauster
